Designing for Fun
It’s been a while since I have gotten to do a passion project, so when my homegirl/friend/copywriter Molly Lees said she wanted to do a poster series I was ecstatic. We had no constraints except what we chose. So she decided they would be 8.5×11 posters for her book club, advertising what the next book was going to be. We checked out the booklist and chose three that seemed like they would be fun to design for. We decided on Game of Thrones, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and To Kill a Mockingbird. We worked through the copy until we got to a place where we conveyed enough information about the books without giving too much away. We made sure all of the messages were delivered in the same format (both visually and contextually) so members of the club would get excited to see the release of the next poster.
